The guardianship wishes nobody knows about
You've written down who should look after your child if something happens to both of you. That document exists somewhere — but does the person you trust know where? Does the family court know it exists?
Having a child changes what planning means. It's no longer just about you — it's about someone knowing exactly who steps in, where the money is, and what you wanted to say to your child. Erbnis keeps all of it in one calm, organised place, for the day it matters.
But these are exactly the moments where a little preparation makes the biggest difference.
You've written down who should look after your child if something happens to both of you. That document exists somewhere — but does the person you trust know where? Does the family court know it exists?
You took out a policy years ago, for exactly this situation. If nobody knows about it, it sometimes goes unclaimed — the very money that was meant for your child.
A few lines you've meant to write for a while. Nothing legal, nothing urgent — just something your child should hear from you one day, in your own words.
Not all of this is legally binding. But all of it saves time, stress and uncertainty when it matters most.

Where the guardianship document is kept, who is named as guardian, and who you'd want informed.

Accounts & finances
Current accounts, savings accounts, children's savings plans, and where the access details are kept so nothing gets forgotten.

Personal words
The letter to your child, wishes for how they're raised, things that matter to you that nobody else would pass on.
A will and guardianship wishes are legally binding documents. In Germany, a will is only valid if it's entirely handwritten and signed under § 2247 BGB, or notarised — no digital service changes that, Erbnis included.
What Erbnis takes care of instead is the practical side: recording where those documents are kept, which insurance policies and accounts exist, and what your family needs to know on day one. Together — the legally valid document and the practical knowledge around it — that's what real planning for your child looks like.
„After the birth, we finally talked properly about guardianship wishes. Erbnis became the place where we gathered everything that had only ever lived in our heads.“
